Israeli warplanes strike southern Beirut again
15/7/2006 11:26

Israeli warplanes struck southern Beirut on Friday again shortly after an air raid on the same area, witnesses said.

Israeli aircraft pounded the Haret Hreik neighborhood in southern Lebanon, which is a stronghold of Hizbollah, said the witnesses.

There was no immediate report of any casualties.

It was the third Israeli airstrike on the same area on Friday.

Moments ago, Israeli aircraft fired a missile at the al-Nour radio station run by Hizbollah in Haret Hreik, but the missile missed the target and hit an apartment of a nearby residential building.

No injuries were reported.

On Friday morning, Israeli warplanes pounded the same area, leaving three people dead and dozens of others wounded.

Israel has intensified airstrikes on Lebanese targets following a cross-border attack by Hizbollah guerillas on Wednesday, during which two Israeli soldiers were kidnapped and eight killed.

At least 10 bridges, key roads, two power stations and the international airport of Beirut were hit during Israeli airstrikes.

The Israeli navy also blockaded Lebanese sea ports.

At least 60 Lebanese have been killed so far and about 200 wounded.
