16/7/2006 11:29

Some 15 people were killed in an Israel raid that targeted civilian cars on a road in the south of Lebanon, said media reports.

Police confirmed that at least 15 civilians were killed when an Israeli missile hit cars carrying passengers on a road in southern Lebanon.

More may have been wounded as the vehicles were directly hit, a police spokesman was quoted as saying.

The Lebanese military confirmed that Israeli warplanes on Saturday launched a new raid on Beirut's southern suburbs, a stronghold of the country's Shiite militant group Hizbollah. "Air strikes are being waged on the southern suburbs," a military spokesman said.
