Israel Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Thursday that his country would not
allow Lebanese Hizbullah militia to return to its strongholds along the Israeli
border.
"We will prevent Hizbullah guerrillas from returning to their stronghold on
border," Peretz said, adding that "as long as I'm concerned, that's
unequivocal."
Peretz's tough stance came a day after Hizbullah, a Shiite-backed militant
group based in southern Lebanon, fired rockets into northern Israel and abducted
two Israeli soldiers. Israeli army has launched series of air raids on
Lebanon, destroying many civil infrastructure, including the only international

Altogether 47 Lebanese have been killed since the air raids, according to the
pan-Arabic television channel al-Jazeera.

on Lebanon by sending warships into Lebanese maritime space.
