An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed on Saturday that three Katyusha
rockets, for the first time, landed in northern Israeli city of Tiberias, some
30 kms from the border with Lebanon.
The attack caused several people suffering from shock and the casualty is not
immediately known, spokeswoman told the press. Tiberias is one of Israel's major
city and a scenic tourist resort near the Galilee Lake.
On Thursday, Katyusha rockets struck Haifa, Israel's third largest city, for
the first time, prompting the Israeli army to order residents in the northern
area to stay near bomb shelters so they could go inside as soon as they hear an
air-raid siren.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Dan Halutz said Friday that
Lebanese Hizbollah has rockets with a range of up to 70 kilometers or more,
which can bring more major Israeli cities within their range, including Hadera
and Netanya.
This would also mean that Hizbollah has rockets that could reach within 20 to
30 kilometers of Tel Aviv.
