Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will write a letter to the
United Nations (UN) Security Council, calling for immediate action to stop the
escalating violence by Israel, a senior official said on Friday.
Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said the letter would urge the
world body to take stern actions immediately to stop Israel from continuing
their aggression.
Israel's acts in Palestine and Lebanon show that it totally has"no regard for
the others", he told local reporters at Kota Bharu, the capital of Malaysia's
northern state of Kelantan.
The Malaysian Foreign Ministry Thursday issued a statement, condemning
Israel's airstrikes on Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon.
The ministry urged Israel to cease all military actions in the occupied
Palestinian Territories and Lebanon to avoid further civilian casualties and the
breakdown of basic infrastructure.
Malaysia also called for the international community to intervene to prevent
further escalation of violence in the region.
