Pakistan to evacuate 500 Pakistanis from Lebanon
22/7/2006 10:08

Pakistan embassy in Lebanon has launched an operation to evacuate 500 Pakistanis from Lebanon, a private TV channel reported yesterday.

A batch of Pakistanis has already been sent back to Pakistan from bombardment ravaged Lebanon, with another batch leaving for Pakistan on Friday, Pakistan Ambassador to Lebanon Asma Aneesa told the GEO Television.

Arrangements have been made to send home the remaining Pakistanis as soon as possible, the ambassador was quoted as saying.

To provide instant help to Pakistanis in Lebanon where attacks by Israel are continuing unabated, important phone numbers of the embassy in Lebanon's capital city of Beirut have already been circulated among the Pakistanis, Aneesa said.

The embassy staff and Pakistanis are absolutely safe, she added.
