Lebanese Hizbollah continued to fire Katyusha rockets on Israeli northern
city of Haifa yesterday, causing big casualties, including 17 injured, two of
them are in critical condition.
Reports reaching here from Haifa said that Katyusha rockets are still falling
on Haifa and its suburbs since the early morning on Friday.
Hizbollah was quoted as saying that it has already launched six rockets on
Haifa since the early hours of Friday.
Walid Khamis, vice president of Haifa Municipality, told the Doha-based
al-Jazeera TV network that the attacks on Haifa had a strong moral and
economical impact among Israelis.
There is a sense of fear in the streets of Haifa that the city have not
witnessed before, he said, adding there are also echoes of true fear among the
Israelis from the possibility sending ground troops to face Hizbollah militia in
a land attack.
Earlier, Xinhua correspondents reported from Haifa that four Hizbollah-fired
rockets fell around Friday noon in Haifa, Israel's coastal and third largest
city, injuring at least six, two of them in serious condition.
Siren sounded as the rockets landed in the city, while two rockets slammed
into buildings.
Israeli security forces and rescue personnel rushed to the scene, and
helicopters were hovering over the city.
Meanwhile, rockets landed in open fields near Safed and Kiryat Shamona. There
was no report of injury or damage.
One person, however, was lightly hurt by a Katyusha rocket in Rosh
Pina.
