Israeli warplanes hit television and mobile phone antennae in Lebanon
yesterday, security sources said. One of the targets was transmission antenna
in northern Lebanon. The antenna was for the Lebanese Broadcasting Company and
mobile communication. Another target was antenna in Katfa in the central
Keserwan mountainous area. Security sources said that the attacks were to
destroy all mobile communications to further isolate Lebanese cities and people
from the outside world. Meanwhile, southern Lebanese villages were still
under Israeli air raids on Saturday. In response, Hezbollah fired rockets at the
coastal Israeli city of Naharya. Violence erupted between Israel and Lebanese
Hezbollah after the Shiite militant group kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and
killed eight in a cross-border attack on July 12.
