Israeli army spokesman confirmed to Xinhua that two people were killed and
five others wounded on Sunday by Lebanese Hizbollah-fired rockets in Haifa,
Israel's third largest city.
The spokesman said that as he has known by far, five rockets landed in Haifa
in the fresh Hizbollah rocket attack.
Earlier, Doha-based al-Jazeera TV channel quoted medics assaying that two
people were killed when a barrage of rockets fired from Lebanon hit Israel's
northern port city of Haifa.
Xinhua correspondents reported at the scene that at least four huge
explosions were heard and heavy smoke was seen rising in the Israeli city.
Officers in a communication center in Haifa set by Israeli government for the
foreign media told Xinhua that the rockets apparently landed in an industrial
zone of the city.
Lebanese Shiite group Hizbollah continued showering Israel with rockets as
the Jewish state kept up a 12-day-old massive assault in Lebanon following the
capture of two Israeli soldiers by Hizbollah guerillas in a cross-border attack
on July 12.
