A new salvo of rockets fired by Lebanon's Hezbollah guerillas hit the
northern Israeli city of Haifa on Sunday afternoon, wounding six people, medical
sources said.
A residential building in the city was directly hit by a rocket and was set
ablaze and firefighters were trying to control the fire.
Medical sources said that six people were injured in the attack. Meanwhile,
Israel's Channel 10 TV reported that two other people were believed to be
trapped in the building. Earlier in the day, two Israelis were killed and 15
others wounded in Hezbollah rocket attacks on Haifa.
Haifa, the third largest Israeli city about 35 km south of the border with
Lebanon, has come under repeated rocket fire by Hezbollah since Israel started a
massive assault in Lebanon following the capture of two Israeli soldiers by
Hezbollah guerillas on July 12.
The Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah has fired hundreds of rockets onto Israel
as the Israeli army has stepped up air raids on Hezbollah targets across
Lebanon.
