France evacuates 5,600 from Lebanon

France have evacuated 4,450 French nationals and 1,150 foreigners, mostly
European people from Lebanon, French Foreign Ministry announced Monday. Some
2,500 others will be evacuated via Turkey aboard a French navy vessel overnight
from Tuesday to Wednesday, French Foreign Ministry spokesman Jean-Baptiste
Mattei said. The vessel will transfer 2,500 people from Beirut to the port of
Mersin in Turkey, where they will board passengers planes and fly back to Paris,
he said. The French Foreign Ministry also announced the reinforcement of
disposals in the region, where more than 120 foreign ministry's staff are sent
and that another consulate of emergency for repatriation will be set up in
Turkey.
