Sweden evacuates 7,000 Swedes from Lebanon

As the conflict in the Middle East continues, Sweden has announced on
Monday that operations there to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon have tailed
off, but work was ongoing to help those still in the country. According to
the Swedish foreign ministry, the aim is "to keep evacuating people as long as
there is a need." Swedish staff will remain in Beirut as long as the
"security situation permits", the ministry said. The ministry also said that
"as many as a couple of hundred Swedes" were still trapped in southern areas and
that it was looking into ways to help them. Some 7,000 Swedes have been
evacuated from the region, mostly to the island of Cyprus. over 230 Swedes
arrived safely in Turkey Monday after being evacuated from Lebanon, according to
the ministry.
