Israel has no intention to target U.N. peacekeepers and Israeli army is
conducting investigation into the deadly attack, which claimed lives of four
U.N. observers, Israeli military said on Wednesday.
"Israel would never target U.N peacekeeper," an Israel Defense Forces (IDF)
spokesman told Xinhua, adding that "everything is under investigation."
IDF expressed regret over the accident.
Four U.N. peacekeepers were killed in an Israeli air strike on their post in
southern Lebanese border town of Khiam Tuesday night, one of them a Chinese.
Chinese government strongly condemned the Israeli air raid and urged the
concerned sides to ensure the safety of UN peacekeepers.
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said he was "shocked" at Israel's "apparently
deliberate targeting" of the UN post.
