Israeli warplanes renewed airstrikes on Lebanon early today.
Israeli military aircraft bombed a Lebanese army base in the Amsheet area
north of Beirut and destroyed a radio relay station in the area, local media
reported, citing Lebanese military sources.
Meanwhile, Israel warplanes also struck areas in south Lebanon.
There was no immediate report of any casualties in the Israeli raids.
The new wave of airstrikes came after nine Israeli soldiers were killed in
fierce clashes against Lebanon's Hezbollah guerillas in south Lebanon on
Wednesday.
Violence between Israel and Hezbollah erupted on July 12 when Hezbollah
guerillas kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight during cross-border
attacks.
Israel has been bombing targets across Lebanon in the 16-day-old massive
onslaught while Hezbollah guerillas have been showering the Jewish state with
rockets.
