Brazil urges probe into Israel's killing of UN observers
27/7/2006 17:09

Brazil's foreign ministry said on Wednesday it was "deeply concerned" about the Israeli airstrike in south Lebanon that killed four UN observers, urging Israel to launch a thorough investigation into the incident.

"The Brazilian government emphasizes the importance of protecting United Nations personnel," the ministry said in a statement.

"Brazil reiterated its strongest condemnation of the indiscriminate use of force, which inevitably results in civilian deaths," it added.

The ministry reaffirmed that Brazil was united with the international community in seeking an immediate end to hostilities in the Middle East.
