Following the eruption of the Middle East crisis, the EU has been active in addressing the crisis.

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana had visited the region two times since the crisis broke out, and Italy hosted an international meeting on resolving the crisis.

The European Commission (EC), the EU's executive, has so far allocated 20 million euros (around 25.2 million U.S. dollars) in humanitarian aid to Lebanon over last two weeks. On Wednesday, it decided to increase the assistance to 50 million euros (around 63 million U.S. dollars), and the upcoming foreign ministers' meeting is expected to give a nod on the plan.
