Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are investigating into whether an Israeli air
strike on Saturday hit a UN post near the border in southern Lebanon, injuring
two UN peacekeeping soldiers, IDF said.
Israel is carrying out an inquiry into an incident, in which two soldiers
from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) might be wounded by an
Israeli air raid on Saturday, an IDF spokeswoman told Xinhua.
She emphasized that Israel would never target UNIFIL, and the UN post might
also be hit by Hezbollah fires.
Two Indian soldiers of UNIFIL were wounded on Saturday as their position were
damaged by Israeli air strike, an UNIFIL spokesman said.
Four unarmed UN observers in south Lebanon were killed on Tuesday, possibly a
result from an Israeli air strike in southern Lebanon.
UN secretary-general Kofi Annan labeled the attack as "apparently
deliberate", which Israel denied.
