US President George W. Bush said on Monday that the United States will not be
part of a multinational force to be deployed in Lebanon.
When asked if the United States will be part of such a multinational force
during an interview with the Fox News Channel, Bush said:
"Probably not."
"But we would be glad to help, you know, with logistics and/or command and
control," Bush said.
"But most nations understand that we won't have troops there on the ground,"
Bush added.
The United States has called for a multinational force to be deployed in
southern Lebanon. However, details of the multinational force are still to be
worked out.
