Lebanese in Zambia call for int'l response to Mideast violence
5/8/2006 10:05

The violence in the Middle East will only end if the international community is involved in finding a lasting solution to the problem, The Post quoted secretary general of the Lebanese community in Zambia as saying on Friday.

The newspaper quoted Secretary General Souhail Nasredinne as saying, "without help from the international community, people, we, will continue dying."

Nasredinne said his wife and three sons are stranded in Lebanon. "My family went to Lebanon on holiday and now they are stranded. They can't get out just because they don't have American or French passports," he said.

He said the Lebanese community in Zambia supports the government, whatever the decision they made to resolve the crisis.

"We need to deal with the root causes not just come up with a superficial resolution otherwise this war will continue, " Nasredinne said.
