Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh held talks with visiting Palestinian
President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday, and their discussion focused on the
conflict between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah, tensions between Palestine and
Israel and Arab unity.
Saleh urged the international community to act immediately to stop "Israel's
aggress on" against Lebanon and Palestine so as to achieve fair, comprehensive
peace in the Middle East at an early date, according to the official Saba news
agency.
Saleh reiterates Yemen's support for the Palestinians in their struggle to
restore their legitimate rights and establish an independent Palestinian state.
Abbas briefed Saleh about his efforts to enhance the Palestinian national
unity and achieve national reconciliation. Abbas lauded Yemen's stand on the
Palestinian issue and the conflict between Israel and Lebanon.
Abbas arrived in Sanaa on Saturday for a two-day visit, part of a mission to
seek support to stop the Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip and
Lebanon. He has already visited Algeria, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and
Qatar.
