Malaysia says no to dialogue with Israel on Middle East issue
6/8/2006 10:24

Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Saturday ruled out the possibility of having a dialogue with Israel on the worsening situation in Middle East.

"Malaysia does not have any relations or diplomatic ties with Israel. So, the question of having a dialogue with Tel Aviv does not arise at all," Badawi said in eastern state of Sarawak.

He made the remarks when asked to comment on the statement by Israeli Ambassador to Singapore Ilan Ben Dov that his country wants to have a dialogue with Malaysia and Indonesia to resolve the Israel-Lebanon crisis, according to local media reports.

Malaysia on Thursday hosted an emergency meeting on Middle East attended by countries of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, condemning Israel's military actions in Lebanon and urging the United Nations Security Council to help realize an unconditional, immediate ceasefire.
