Pakistan and Egypt on Tuesday strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on
Lebanon and Gaza, and stressed the need for an immediate cease-fire and
withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Lebanese territory.
The condemnation came at the conclusion of their two-day third round of
political consultations in Islamabad, according to a joint statement issued
after the meeting.
The deliberations also covered a range of regional and international issues
of mutual interest and concern, the statement said.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2001 stipulates annual
bilateral political consultations that provide a mechanism to regularly exchange
views on bilateral cooperation and to coordinate their respective positions on
regional and international issues.
Pakistan and Egypt in their third round of political consultations reviewed
the state of bilateral cooperation in various fields with a view to further
intensifying these ties for their mutual benefits.
