A visiting Sudanese envoy called here on Wednesday for more efforts to stop
the Israeli "brutal aggression" on Lebanon, the official SANA news agency
reported.
After meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister
Walid al-Muallem, Sudanese President Advisor Mostafa Othamn Ismael urged in a
press conference for the withdrawal of the Israeli troops from south Lebanon.
Ismael also said that "What is going on in Lebanon gives a clear message to
the western countries and Israel that resistance is permanent as occupation
still exists on the Lebanese lands."
According to SANA, Assad and Ismael discussed during the meeting the latest
developments of the Israeli aggressive war on Lebanon, means of supporting
Lebanon's steadfastness and the Arab efforts on the regional and international
levels.
Ismael, whose country holds a rotating presidency of the current session of
the Arab League, relayed a message to Assad from his President Omar Hasan
al-Bashir on Sudan's support to Syria in the face of "aggressive schemes", SANA
said.
About 1,000 Lebanese have been killed and a quarter of Lebanon's population
displaced since Israel launched a massive assault on Lebanon's Hezbollah in
retaliation for the abduction of two Israeli soldiers.
