At least four people were killed and dozens wounded in Israeli air strikes in
eastern Lebanon overnight yesterday, medics source said.
The two overnight air raids took place in the Lebanon eastern region of
Baalbeck.
The source said that rescuers have pulled four bodies from the rubble of the
building hit by Israeli warplanes in the attack, while dozens of injured have
been sent to the local hospital for treatment.
Israeli troops battled Hezbollah guerrillas across southern Lebanon Sunday
and air strikes battered Beirut's suburbs as the Israeli army pressed on with
its offensive in the hours until a UN-brokered truce begins.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Hezbollah fired over 200 rockets on Sunday across cities
and towns in north Israel, despite a UN Security Council resolution approved by
both Israel and Lebanon.
The resolution, unanimously adopted by UN Security Council on Friday, calls
for Israel's withdrawal and authorizes an increase of the existing UN force in
Lebanon to 15,000 troops to help Lebanese government troops take control of
south Lebanon as Israel withdraws.
