A UN-brokered truce between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas took
effect at 8 a.m. (0500 GMT).
The ceasefire is aimed at ending a month-long fighting between Israel and
Hezbollah that has left over 1,000 people dead.
But so far, there has had no confirmation available from the Israeli and
Lebanese governments, or Hezbollah leadership, to observe the ceasefire.
But during the hours before the ceasefire took effect Israel launched a
series of air raids across Lebanon while Hezbollah fired a barrage of rockets on
Israel.
