14/8/2006 15:44

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert ordered the army to observe a ceasefire from 2:00 a.m. Monday (2300 GMT Sunday) and pull back some troops from southern Lebanon, the Ha'aretz newspaper reported on its website.

The ceasefire ordered by Israel was six hours ahead of a UN Security Council prescribed truce between Israeli forces and Hezbollah guerrillas that is due to take effect at 0500 GMT.
