Lebanese President Emile Lahoud on Tuesday condemned Israel for its
continued sea and air blockage on Lebanon after the UN resolution for truce took
effect.
Speaking with visiting Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim, Lahoud said
Israel's deeds bluntly breached the UN Security Council's resolution calling for
a ceasefire between Israeli forces and Lebanon's Hezbollah guerillas.
Lahoud said Israeli forces continued to pose threats to those who want to
return to south Lebanon and the reconnaissance planes hovering in the Lebanese
airspace made Israel's sincerity to abide by the UN resolution doubtable.
The president added that investigators were collecting evidenceon Israel's
use of internationally banned bombs during its 34 days of bombardment on
Lebanon.
The Brazilian minister was on a visit to Lebanon to deliver medicine to the
country where over 1,100 people have been killed in Israeli strikes and many
more wounded. Most of the victims were civilians.
The conflict between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah broke out on July 12
following the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah guerillas in
cross-border attacks.
