French Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that there would be another evacuation
of some 400 people from Lebanon on board of a French vessel, including 350
French nationals.
This new evacuation to the Cypriot port of Larnaca on Wednesday evening, two
day after the end of fight on the Lebanese territory, will bring the total
number of people repatriated by French means to 13,900, including 10,850 French
nationals, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Denis Simonneau.
The evacuated people boarding the French Navy ship "Siroco" will get to
Larnaca on Thursday morning. Two planes chartered by the French Foreign Ministry
will later bring them to Paris, said the spokesman.
"Our means will remain at place in order to do other repatriation operations
if necessary," he added.
Among the 17,000 French nationals registered at French consulates in Lebanon,
Paris estimated that 14,000 were in the country when the conflicts began on July
12.
