Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora on Sunday accused Israel of committing
crimes against humanity during its month-long offensive on his country.
The "criminal act" has reflected Israel's hatred toward Lebanon and its
intention to destroy the country and its unity, Siniora said during his tour of
Beirut's bombed-out southern suburbs, accompanied by the Speaker of the Lebanese
Parliament, Nabih Berri.
Siniora appealed to the international media to transmit pictures of Beirut's
bombed-out southern suburbs, so that the people around the world could see
"Israel's crimes."
He also called for national unity to go through the post-war restoration.
Israel launched a massive assault against Hezbollah, after the Lebanese
Shiite group seized two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others during
cross-border raids on July 12.
Over 1,000 Lebanese and 157 Israelis have been killed in the month-long
conflict.
