Bulgaria is ready to send peace-keeping troops to southern Lebanon, Prime
Minister Sergei Stanishev said on Saturday.
Stanishev also said that the deployment of Bulgarian troops is important for
the country as a future EU member as many European governments
have decided to join the peace-keeping mission in Lebanon, according to local
media reports.
Bulgaria will also provide humanitarian aid to Lebanon, the reports said.
The forms of Bulgaria's participation and the number of peacekeeping troops
will be revealed after consultations with the UN, according to local Darik News.
The final decision of troops deployment in Lebanon is expected to be made on
Sunday and the decision will be sent to the National Assembly for approval, it
