Saraya al-Quds, military wing of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) movement,
claimed responsibility yesterday for firing eight homemade rockets from northern
Gaza at southern Israel.
The group said in a communique sent to reporters that following the daily
Israeli enemy violations and the daily attacks and arrests
against the Palestinian people, "we announce that our militants fired eight Quds
2 rockets at Israel."
It said that four homemade rockets were firing from Gaza at the southern
Israel town of Sderout, and four others were fired at other Israeli communities
near Gaza Strip borders.
"These attacks are the natural response to the daily crimes committed by the
occupation forces. We promise to escalate our attacks in order to increase fear
among settlers and residents of Sderout," said the communique.
Meanwhile, Israel Radio quoted Israeli police sources as saying that several
homemade rockets were fired from Gaza at Israel, adding several Israelis were
injured and great damage was caused.
The rockets attack coincides with a wave on inter-Palestinian violence and
security chaos between the two rival movements, Fatahand Islamic Hamas movement.
