Thai Privy Counselor General Surayu Zhulanong will be the new Thai prime minister, a Thai military source said here early Wednesday morning.

Thai military and police declared on late Tuesday that they had seized power of the state from the caretaker government and that caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has agreed to resign.
