DPRK accuses US of adopting double standards on missile issue
3/10/2006 17:49

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) on Monday accused the United States of adopting discriminating policies against it over the missile issue.

A signed commentary of the leading official newspaper Rodong Sinmun blasted the United States for adopting a hostile policy after it test-fired seven missiles in July.

"The U.S. asserts the DPRK's missile launch is intolerable" while "conniving at and supporting south Korea's missile development," the commentary said.

"The U.S. imperialists are watching for a chance to attack the DPRK after amassing war means including all types of missiles in and around south Korea," said the Rodong Sinmun.

"It is quite natural for the DPRK to take counter-measures to cope with this situation," it added.

South Korea has recently developed a cruise missile with a range of 500 kilometers which is capable of hitting targets in the far northern part of the DPRK, according to South Korean media.
