US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice held talks with Mohamed ElBaradei,
secretary general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), yesterday
and they discussed the nuclear issues of the Democratic People's Republic of
Korea (DPRK) and Iran.
"On North Korea, they talked really about the issue of
implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1718," State Department
spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing.
"On Iran, they had a general discussion of where we stand right now and UN
member countries' efforts to pass a UN Security Council resolution that would
impose some sanctions on Iran," McCormack said.
The United States is working with Britain and France, two other permanent
members of the UN Security Council, on a resolution to impose sanctions on Iran,
McCormack said.
