3/11/2006 17:12

Two senior US officials will arrive in Japan on Sunday to meet with top Japanese officials over the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, Kyodo News reported yesterday.

During their two days' stay, U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns and Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Robert Joseph will hold talks with Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki, Foreign Minister Taro Aso and other Japanese officials to prepare for the resumption of the six-party talks, according to Japanese Foreign Ministry's press secretary Mitsuo Sakaba.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) agreed on Tuesday to return to the talks, which was suspended about a year ago.
