The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s readiness to resume
six-party talks can help ease the tension in the Korean peninsula and restore
confidence among the international community in resolving the problem, a
Malaysian official said here on Friday.
All quarters in the issue were keen to ease the mounting tension after the
DPRK carried out its nuclear test recently, Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar
said.
Malaysia was happy with the positive and constructive development after the
DPRK expressed its willingness to return to the negotiating table, he told
reporters after launching a book entitled the "Number One Wisma Putra" which
carried 31 articles about Malaysian diplomats.
Malaysia's official news agency Bernama said that Syed Hamid hoped there
would be no hindrance which could derail the talks and that all parties would go
to the negotiating table with an open mind.
