Chun Yung Woo, chief negotiator of the Republic of Korea to the six-party
talks, said in Beijing this morning that bilateral talks which pair up
negotiators from the six countries should be the major way to resolve their
differences.
He confirmed that several rounds of bilateral negotiations would be held on
Tuesday.
"It's an important day, and the ROK aims at making substantial progress
through consultations with the other sides," he said.
The second stage of the fifth round of six-party talks resumed in Beijing
Monday morning, gathering negotiators from China, the Democratic People's
Republic of Korea (DPRK), the United States, the ROK, Japan and Russia.
All six parties have stressed that to resolve the nuclear issue of the Korean
Peninsula requires "action-for-action" in their negotiations.
