Palestine withdrew from the men's volleyball competition at the 15th Asian
Games, only hours before they were due to face Hong Kong of China in their
opening match at Al-Rayyan Indoor Hall on Sunday, the Doha Asian Games
Organizing Committee (DAGOC) said.
The late withdrawal of Palestine, who were to have made their first-ever
appearance in the men's volleyball at the Asian Games, means that Hong Kong will
be awarded the victory by 3-0 in sets, with each set scored at 25-0.
Palestine was scheduled to face the United Arab Emirates in the final Group D
match on Tuesday. This will therefore be awarded to UAE by the same score line.
The match between UAE and Hong Kong on Monday 27 November will now determine
which team survives the group.
