Five days before the official opening of the Asian Games, some teams had to
go home.
Hong Kong and Macao men's basketball teams failed to pass the qualification
round for the Dec. 1-15 Asian Games and left Doha on Sunday.
Macao's head coach Zeng Zhaozhong said it was a pity for them to play only
one game in Doha.
"As a weak team, it is hard to fight against other teams, but going home so
early made us sad," said Zeng.
The Macao team played their only game on Saturday, losing to Bahrain 91-56,
while Hong Kong yielded to Syria 89-61 on Sunday following Thursday's 65-57 loss
to Afghanistan.
The most of Hong Kong delegation, who has 281 athletes over 28 sports, is
scheduled to arrive here on Monday, the same day Macao delegation is to
arrive.
