Chen Qing, one of the new recruiters to China's national table tennis team
for the 15th Asian Games at Doha, expressed her aspiration for the gold medal
here after arrival.
"It's my first cap for the Chinese table tennis team, and I dare to say that
to win a gold here at the Doha Asiad is not hopeless for me," said the
22-year-old defensive player.
Chen, whose best result on international stage is the women's singles
runner-up at this year's Slovenia Open, has been highly expected to surprise the
world with her chopping style at this Asiad after having long been used as a
substitute at the star-packed Chinese team.
"It's the best ever chance that I've given by the national team, and I'll
never waste it nor leave pity to my own life."
The Shandong native will compete in women's team and doubles event at Doha
and come out the new partner of the "Grand Slam" winner of table tennis Wang
Nan, who has won the titles of Olympic, world championships and World Cup.
The Asian Games' table tennis competitions will start Wednesday and concluded
on December 7.
