Bangladesh soccer team are trying to make themselves more knowledgeable to
the Asian Games rather than vying for medals here at Doha, said senior official
Monday at the flag raising ceremony held inside the Athletes' Village.
"We are leading a young team here for the Doha Asiad, and not expecting any
medals here," the Bangladesh soccer team leader Sirajul Jslam Bachchu told
Xinhua.
"What we want most is to gain some knowledge of the Asian Games and to be
better prepared for the next Asiad held in Guangzhou, China.
"Also we will try to play good matches here," he added.
Bangladesh have been drawn into a group alongside with South Korea, Bahrain
and Vietnam, and their hopes of advancing to the next phase are deemed very slim
as the other three are all better teams.
"We'll try our best to do an excellent job here, but the draw is really tough
for us and there're too many good players on the rival sides," said Rajani
Barman, a member of Bangladesh's soccer team.
