Qatar edged Jordan 3-0 in their first group match of the Doha Asian Games to
make a fantastic start at the Al Sadd Football Stadium here on Tuesday.
Striker Quintana Sebstian, 18, put the hosts ahead six minutes into the game
with a comfortable shot inside the box following front man Abdulrahman Hussain
Yaser's inch-perfect low cross from the right.
Midfielder Moha Adel Lamy doubled the lead for Qatar with a timely follow-up
into an open net after forward Rajab Bilal Mohammed rounded the keeper.
Abdulrahman sealed victory when the speedy striker ghosted in the area to
poke in a pinpoint center from midfielder Al Hamad Messaad Ali.
Qatar made a high-tempo opening, dominating the midfield with swift short
passes and smart interchanges. Jordan relied more on the counter-attacks, but
posed big threats to the hosts on two occasions in the first half.
Jordan rallied after the interval, pushing forward and launching fierce
attacks. Qatar were obviously not well prepared for their opponent's burst and
the defence was in disorder for a period. However, it was Qatar who created real
chance and finished off the night with three points.
