Japan's woman judo player Mai Tateyama, who replaced injured Olympic gold medallist Maki Tasukada, said on Tuesday she aims to claim the title at the upcoming Asian Games in Doha.

"I feel a little nervous to replace Tasukada," 20-year-old judo player told Xinhua.

Tateyama said she knew her Chinese rival Tong Wen, who defeated Tasukada in Judo Tournament in Cairo last year.

"She (Tong) is formidable but my aim is to grab the gold medal," Tateyama said after a training session at Doha Sports Club.

The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) announced on Monday Tasukada has withdrawn from the Doha Asian Games over a calf injury.

Tasukada, winner of the over 78-kilogram title in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, got injured during a training session in Japan, it said. She needs about four weeks to recover.

Japan grabbed eight gold medals in judo in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

The 15th Asian Games is to open in Doha, Qatar on Dec. 1 and run until Dec. 15.
