Japan's women trap shooters have prepared well for the first gold of the 15th
Asian Games, according to the coach here on Wednesday.
"Our shooters have prepared really well for the games," said Hiroshi
Teranishi, coach of Japan's trap team, to Asiad's official website. "The venue
is quite good as well."
"Our only concern is that if it is very windy, the dust may affect the
shooters' sights," he added.
The first gold medal of the Asiad will be offered in women's trap team event,
according to the most updated schedule.
The Japanese markswomen swept the podium of women's trap individual event at
the Lusail Shooting Complex at the test event here in September.
"I think that this venue is suited to us," said Yukie Nakayama, a member of
the women's trap team, formerly a double trap shooter. "To win a gold in the
trap team event is my goal for the games."
Nakayama, 27, is the newly-crowned Asian champion in both trap's individual
and team events.
The other two of the Japanese trio are Megumi Inoue, former Asian champion
and World Cup gold medalist and Keiko Suku.
The women's trap event kicks off at 7:30 am on Dec. 2, the first competition
day after the opening ceremony.
