Macao's men's table tennis team, made up of amateur players, bowed out of the
Asian Games with heads held high on Thursday.
With a record of one win and two losses in Group C, the players were
delighted, although they have been shut out of the team's quarterfinals.
"My players have played very well and they have shown sportsmanship at the
Asiad," said Macao coach Wong Chong Fan after his team beat Bahrain in full
sets.
"I'm really proud of them and now we can go home without feeling shame,"
added Wong.
Macao's trio of Vong Hon Weng, Iam Tong Hou and Ho Wing Lung came back from
two games down to beat Bahrain 3-2.
Macao had succumbed to the Hong Kong and Vietnamese teams on Wednesday.
"Though we didn't make it to the quarter-finals, we are happy with one
victory," said Wong.
The men's quarter-finalists are China, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Hong Kong,
Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and Singapore.
