Qatar's Nasser Al Attiya, newly crowned Asian Champion of men's skeet, is
keen to perform well at Lusail Shooting Complex of the 15th Asiad.
"I've prepared very well for the Games and I feel happy that this competition
is held here in Qatar at Lusail range," said Al Attiya here on
Thursday after the training. "All my training has been going well. I will do my
best."
The 36-year-old Al Attiya, the only skeet shooter from Qatar in the Athens
Olympics, finished the fourth.
"Most shooters from Asia are at World Championships or World Cup shooters, so
they are at a very high level," he said. "But the good thing is that in this
September I won the Asian Championships in Singapore. I am so happy about it."
"We are a very good team now," he said, referring to the team event. "This is
our range. We know this range very well."
However, according to Al Attiya, to compete in hometown means not only a
familiar range, but also great pressure.
"The Asian Games here in Qatar means many things for us. There will be more
pressure for us," he added.
The shooting competition of the Asiad kicks off on Dec. 2 while men's skeet
is scheduled from Dec. 7-8.
