4/12/2006 16:16

The Philippines was battling hard in bowling after a disappointing finish in swimming and shooting in the 15th Asian Games, local media reported on Monday.
Three days into the Games, the Filipinos are still looking for their first medal, said a report by The Manila Bulletin daily.
Comparatively, other Southeast Asian countries Thailand had three silvers and two bronze while Singapore and Vietnam each had a silver and a bronze.
The report said Filipinos' performance was disappointing. Swimmer Miguel Molina finished fourth in the 400-meter individual medley Saturday evening while the men's trap shooters missed the bronze by seven birds early Sunday.
The task of winning the country's first medal now shifts to bowling which gave the country one of three gold medals four years ago, said the report.
The men's team is filled with superstars, namely: four-time World Cup champion Paeng Nepomuceno, reigning world champion Biboy Rivera, 2003 World Cup champion Christian Jan Suarez, Southeast Asian Games titlist Markwin Tee and Tyrone OngpauCo
However, the report said, the boxers had a perfect start of two wins, the rowers barged into the semifinals and gymnast Roel Ramirez qualified in the horse vault final.
