It was an all-South Korean affair in the final of the Asian Games soft
tennis mixed doubles event, with Kim Ji Eun and We Hyu Hwan getting better of
Kim Kyung Ryun and You Young Dong at the Khalifa Tennis Courts here on Monday.
Both South Korean pairs defeated Japanese pairs on their road to the final.
Kim and You reigned supreme in the first semifinal beating Shigeo Nakahori/Ayumi
Ueshima 5-2 while Kim and We beat Harumi Gyokusen/Tsuneo Takagawa 5-1.
In the final, Kim and We stamped their authority on the match early by
winning the first game 4-0. The second game saw a turn-around, with You and Kim
showing why they are one of the most respected duos in soft tennis. They took
the game at 4-1.
The third game was another nailbiter, with both teams battling for the upper
hand. It was We and Kim who finally got ahead by holding their serve and winning
the game 7-5.
We and Kim went on to play some spectacular soft tennis to win three out of
the last four games before taking the match 5-2.
