The Chinese sharpshooters broke the Asian record of the men's double trap
team event at the 15th Asian Games here on Tuesday.
World Championships runner-up Hu Binyuan, finalist Wang Nan and debutant Liu
Anlong combined for a total of 424 hits out of a possible 450
targets, toppling the previous Asian record by six hits and secured the title
for China.
"They did a great job today," said Sun Shengwei, head coach of the Chinese
shotgun team. "Liu's performance was totally out of expectation."
Liu, who was in his international debut, collected 137 hits and made the
individual final round.
"He never shot such a score in the training sessions after we arrived," said
Sun. "He really gave us a big surprise."
India finished second with a total of 409 hits while Chinese Taipei took the
bronze medal with 397 hits.
