Top-seeded Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng of China were eliminated from the badminton
men's doubles quarter-finals at the 15th Doha Asian Games on Thursday.
Being the world number one and newly-crowned world champion, Cai and Fu
arrived in Doha as hot favorites. After knocking off Thai
shuttlers Sudket Prapakamol and Phattapol Ngensrisuk 21-9, 23-21 this morning,
the Chinese pair set up a battle against Koo KienKeat and Tan Boon Heong of
Malaysia.
In the first encounter of the two pairs, Cai and Fu lagged all the way to
lose 21-9, 21-19.
The depressed pair refused any interview after the game.
